Staying “Current” with Evolving Technology

We are dedicated to keeping current with all developments in the rapidly evolving world of marine electrical systems. By doing so we can advise you on the latest innovations. But more importantly we can be sure to recommend and install systems based on the latest safety standards and best practices, with the best value and track record for reliability.
- Experts – We are often if not always in direct communication with manufacturers, engineers and industry experts as we plan and install complex electrical systems.
- Education – We are investing in continuing education and certification for our crew. We are a ABYC member and crew member Ben Parson recently became a ABYC Certified Marine Electrical Technician.
- Data – In 2020, Drew Scott developed a set of formulas for predicting performance for a given hull, motor and battery bank. With every electric propulsion system we launch we are improving and refining our ability to compare and contrast boats and electrical components, and predict performance.
- Trade Shows – In November 2024, Ellery attended the Mets Trade show in Amsterdam. Mets is the largest trade show in the world and is known for featuring the latest marine battery, electric propulsion and renewable energy products. In addition to meeting directly with many leading manufacturers, Ellery also attended several seminars and panel discussions with industry innovators and experts from around the world.
- Conferences – For the past two years we have attended an annual conference for Maine boat yards involved with electric propulsion put on by the Island Institute. In 2025, Ben and Ellery presented at the conference, sharing what we have learned about electric propulsion over the course of several projects. SEE THE POWERPOINT PRESENTATION HERE.
QUALITY PARTNERS
Just some of the many organizations, local and global, who have helped make our work possible. Click on logos to link to their sites.

The Offcenterharbor.com guys are quite literally our friends and neighbors. We are grateful for their efforts to spread the good word about good boats.

Four of our crew are Apprenticeshop Alumn and we are proud to support their efforts to inspire personal growth through craftsmanship, community and traditions of the sea.
YACHT ENGINEERING SYSTEMS
Don Eley has brought his systems expertise and ingenuity to bare on many of our electric propulsion projects at H&B. His electrical system design is critical to our work with this exciting new technology.
