| About Us |
D. N. Hylan & Associates specializes in the construction, restoration and design of wooden boats. Started in 1998 by Doug Hylan, it is located on the Benjamin River in Brooklin, Maine, in the heart of some of the worlds best cruising waters. As a partner in Benjamin River Marine from 1987 to 1998, Doug was responsible for several notable building and restoration jobs, including the Rozinante canoe yawl RED HEAD, the sardine carrier-to-yacht restoration of GRAYLING., the Barnegat Bay A-Cat MARY ANN, and the L. Francis Herreshoff cruising ketch ALBACORE. Prior to 1987, Doug worked under Joel White at Brooklin Boat Yard. |

Since starting D. N. Hylan & Assoc, Doug has continued to build and restore notable wooden boats, and in addition has increased his emphasis on design work. New designs and modifications to older designs are now available in house. Our new building shop is fully equipped to handle boats from 10 to 65 feet. Both Doug and most of his crew are experienced boatmen -- we know what features make sense on the water. |
